Beach Profiling pt. 2 JohnCarl M.

Let us begin at the middle of the world.  15 students and one teacher pull up in a dusty van and a parent driven car. Everyone gets out to go the expert, Len Germinara or, as the students and teacher call him, Lenny. They walk down a path, find the coordinates of a tree. Then they head toward the ocean. They are going there to do beach profiling.
"The blueberries are later and later" says Lenny. "That's not a good thing" says Lenny "things die because of this "Lenny says.
Now they are doing beach  profiling. I should explain what that is. So now I will.
Step1.First you must record the time place and weather and the Longitude and latitude.
Step2. Then you must find a fixed monument so that you can come back and do it again once a season.
Step3. Next put one emory pole just in front of the monument. An emory pole is A device invented by Mr.Emory. It measures the distance the slope goes down or up over a five foot area.
Step4. If the slope is down you line up the top of your pole with the horizon and find the amount down by going across to the other pole.
Step5. If the slope is up line up your partners rod with the horizon. Then match up the top of your partners rod with your rod to see how much it goes up.
