Beach Profiling pt. 2 Jake T.

I. Procedure
A. Materials
  • Access to a beach
  • An emory rod
  • A visible horizon
  • A pencil
  • A notebook
  • At least 2 people
B. Methods
  1. Put one of the emory rod at the beginning of the dunes.
  2. Stretch the other emory rod as far as it can go down the beach.
  3. Have one person hold one rod and another person hold the other rod.
  4. Line up the 2 so one is infant of another (You could put something at the shoreline so you go straight all the way down).
  5. Then the person holding the rod closest to the dunes has to line up the top of the other rod with the horizon and see where it appears on the rod closest to the dune.
  6. Right the measurement down in your notebook.
  7. Move the rod closest to the dunes right next to the other rod and then stretch out the other rod as far as it can go.
  8. Repeat steps 1-7 until you get to the shoreline.
