Here is how you properly profile  a beach!

First, you will need the following things before you start:

•Pencil, clipboard, graph paper.
•Data Sheet
•Emory Rods

Now follow these steps, and in now time, you'll be an expert at Beach Profiling in no time:

Use the Emory Rods to measure the beach. Place one of the poles at the dunes, and the other two meters ahead of the ocean
Use on of the rods to measure the distance of the other rod.
Next, using the horizon as an object to line up the rods, line it up with the first pole, to measure the beach
Lastly, record the data measured, on data sheet.

Once you and your teammates arrive at the beach, get each time to make a line, either a visual of from the dunes in a straight line.

Now get each team to make the measurements along the line.
Next,  take your emory rods (they are the long poles with all the  numbers on them), and begin to measure the beach. Place one rod at the dunes, and the other two meters ahead of the ocean.

Then, using the horizon as an object to line the rods, and line it up with the first pole to measure the beach.

Lastly, take your data sheet and write down your data. That is how you Beach Profile!
