Storm Log - Ava W.

1/27/15 - Tuesday 

In the morning, when I woke up at 7:00am it was snowing and it was windy! The temperature was about 32º and the wind speed was 51 miles per hour. 

I lost power at 6:30am and I was just watching the snow from my room falling down covering the land with white.

At 8:00am it was snowing and slushing.The temperature was 32º and the wind speed was 51.0 miles per hour. I decided to sit on the couch and watch a movie even tough my battery was going to die.

At 9:00am it was still snowing and the temperature was about 27º.  The wind speed was 50 miles per hour and since I didn't have much to do, I took a spray paint can and spray painted the snow!    

When it was 10:00am, the wind speed was 46.0 miles per hour.  The temperature was 32º and it was snowing very hard. I ended up cleaning out the art cabinet and was going to start growing crystals. 

At 11:00am I was still organizing the art cabinet and the temperature was 32º. The wind speed was 46.0  miles per hour and it was snowing.

At 12:00pm it was snowing hard and the temperature was 30º. The wind speed was 46.0 miles per hour and my dad and I went down town to see how bad the damage was. The jetties was over flowed with water, it was crazy!

At 1:00pm  the wind speed was 46.0 miles per hour and the temperature was 30º. It was snowing and I decided to play outside for some time!

At 2:00pm the temperature was 25º and the wind speed was 49.0 miles per hour. It was still snowing really hard and I was still playing outside.

When it was 3:00pm, I had just gotten back inside from playing with my brother. It was really fun!It was snowing hard and the wind speed was 49.0 miles per hour.

 At 4:00pm the wind was 49.0 miles per hour and the temperature was 25º.  It was still snowing and since it was so cold charlie and I went back inside and watched a movie and drank hot chocolate! 

At 5:00pm I started to light candles and help start dinner. The temperature was 21º and the wind speed was 40.0 miles per hour. It was still snowing and very windy that it shook the house!

At 6:00pm we were about to have dinner. It was snowing lightly and the temperature was 19º. The wind speed was about 15.0 miles per hour.

At 7:00pm we watched a movie and all the sudden the power came back on! The wind speed was about 15.0 miles per hour and the temperature was 19º. It was still snowing and I was very excited that we had no school tomorrow!

At 8:00pm the temperature was 19º. The wind speed was about 15.0 miles per hour and it was still snowing! My mom, Charlie and I watched a movie.   

At 9:00pm it was snowing and the temperature was 19º. The wind speeds were 10.0 miles per hour and when we finished the movie I brushed my teeth and went to bed!

At 8:00am it was snowing lightly and the temperature was 19º. The wind speeds were 18 miles per hour. WHen I am so sorry my dog hit my hand, but the rest of the data is right here!

At 8:00am it was snowing lightly and the temperature was 19º. The wind speeds were 18 miles per hour. When I woke up I listened to some music and then made some breakfast, which was sunny side up eggs!

At 9:00am the temperature was 19º and the wind speed was 21 miles per hour.  It was lightly snowing and I was watching a movie!

At 10:00am it was snowing and the temperature was 19º. The wind speed was 21 miles per hour. I decided to watch a movie and drink some pomegranate juice!

At 11:00am it go sunny and it stopped snowing. The wind speed was 20 miles per hour and the temperature was 19º. When I was done drinking my juice I got my snow pants and wen outside to go to my friends house.

At 12:00pm it was not snowing and the temperature was 25º. The wind speed was 10.0 mile per hour and I was at a friends house.

At 1:00pm  it was lightly snowing and the wind speed was 10.0 miles per hour. The temperature was 25º  and I was still at my friends house!

At 2:00pm it was still lightly snowing and the temperature was 25º. The wind speed was 15.0 miles per hour and i was at my friends house. 

At 3:00pm it was cloudy but not snowing and my friends and I went to the play ground!  The wind speed was about 15.0 miles per hour and the temperature was 25º.

At 4:00pm it was lightly snowing and I was just getting home from my friends. The temperature was 25º and the wind speed was 12.0 miles per hour!

At 5:00pm it was cloudy and not snowing  much and the temperature was 25º. I was helping with dinner and the wind speed was 12.0 miles per hour.

At 6:00pm we ate dinner and then cleaned the dishes. The temperature was 25º and the wind speed was 12.0 miles per hour.

At 7:00pm I sat by the fire and ate a cookie and then watched a movie. The wind speed was 12.0 miles per hour. The temperature was 25º.

At 8:00pm I got ready for bed and then watched a little bit of a movie. The wind speed was 12.0 miles per hour. The temperature was 25º.

I woke up at 9:00 in the morning and we lost power around 2:00am. We don't have any water so we are boiling down snow for water. there are about 30-70mpg gusts outside and its about 34 degrees outside.

10:00

Still no power, but its 31 degrees out but feels like 12 degrees and the wind is blowing north east at 55mpg.

11:00

It started snowing again and its about 30 degrees out and is blowing really hard.

It stopped snowing but we still have no power. Its around 31 degrees out and is still blowing. we are having pasta for lunch.

Still no power but me and my dad went outside to get some wood for the fire. I literally had 15 layers on altogether. It started snowing again and is really windy and is probably around 25 degrees out. Still no power!!!

Still no power and my dad is trying to get water. I think the wind died down a little bit and its probably 30 degrees out.

The wind picked up and it is snowing again. Its 25 degrees out right now. My dad is getting my grandfather and he is spending the night with us. Its going to get dark soon.

We still have no power but we are putting candles every were so are house smells like a perfume store but anyway its about 20 degrees out and the wind is still blowing a lot.

Its dark out now and we are all using flashlights and head lamps. No power and its really windy out and 25 degrees. we are making dinner or trying to...

Its pitch black outside and would be inside but we all have flashlights and candles. Its in the low 30s out and still windy.

Still no power and its dark out and I think its still snowing. It is blowing north northeast at 25mpg and is 19 degrees out. we are watching the Never Ending Story on Danielles computer.

We are still out of power and are finishing the movie. Its still really cold and windy out.

We still have no power and are watching the second never ending story. Its still windy out and about 15 degrees. I'm probably going to bed soon.

My favorite color is blue. I think it would taste like salt water, have no taste or blueberries.

I think it would smell like the ocean, squished blueberries and Irises.

I think it would sound like the wind, the waves crashing on the beach and squirting water out of a water gun.

I think it would feel like air, jello or fuzziness.

I think it would look like blue awesomeness and the sky.

Its super power would be using water like shooting water out of his hands anything else involving water and would have an army of sharks, octopi and giant crabs.

~Tuesday, Jan 27th, 2015-The Day Of The Storm~

4:29am: Right now it is snowing a lot, and there is a lot more snow on the ground then there was yesterday. I am currently trying to go back to sleep.

7:29am: It is morning, and currently the snow is almost making it so you can’t even see my porch! The power went out last night, and it is annoying because now I cannot send this essay today. I also cannot do anything requiring internet access or power.  The wind is very strong, and there is at least 5-6 inches of snow on the ground. Hopefully, I’ll get to  o outside at some point. Right now, I am trying to finds ways to get onto the internet, and finding something to do.

8:29am: It has been an hour, and the storm has only gotten worse. I’m watching the tree in my front yard out my window. It’s covered in piles and more piles of snow. Our whole front yard has turned into both my front yard, my neighbor’s front yard, and the driveway. My Mom say’s I can’t go outside yet because if I do I’ll literally blow away, because the winds are 50mph. I kinda want to see what happens if I blow away though…

Since the past hour, at least one more inch of snow has been placed on the ground. I am currently working on this essay, and listening to music while I still have battery power on my electronics. 

9:29am:The storm is still going on, and as minutes and more minutes fly by, the wind only gets stronger, and more snow blows everywhere. The winds are over 50mph, and the wind seems to be coming from the North/West I just found that the whole entire Island is out of power, and apparently the power guys are working out it, and the power should be working again by 11:30am, but I highly doubt it. If anything, I feel as if the power won’t come back on until this afternoon. At the moment, I’m switching between my iPad and computer, so neither of them run out of battery. I’m also watching the storm from my window.

10:29am: The storm has been going on for approximately  14 hours (maybe more, maybe less) and it still hasn’t died down. The wind speed is above 50mph, all power everywhere is out, and most roads have been blocked, excluding the main roads. It is around 29˚ degrees, and the wind is coming from the West. At this very moment, I am reading a book.

11:29am: It’s almost 12pm, but the power is still out. Winds are at 50mph, and it is 28˚degrees. I am hoping the power will turn back on soon. Right now, I am playing on my iPad.

12:29pm: It is noon now, and the storm is still in full rage. It’s 28˚degrees, and the winds are about 49mph. It is now not snowing as bad as it was before, but the huge snowfall has been replaced with stronger winds, little bits of snow, and snow being blowed off the roofs of every house surrounding mine. As for the power, they are “working” on it, but they can’t actually fix it until the winds die down to 35mph. I am still waiting to go outside, since the winds are still too strong. Right now, I just am finishing up my small lunch, and finding something to do before I can go outside. 

1:29pm: Still no power, and I’m still not able to go outside, because the winds are still at 49mph.  It’s around 28˚ degrees still, and it’s still snowing. I haven’t been able to do anything outside because of it. I’m hoping I’ll be able too before it gets dark. I just finished making a  Video Star video, and now I’m just hanging out in my room, waiting for two things; The power to come back on and for the opportunity to go outside. 

2:29pm: I can’t believe it’s already 30 minutes to 3, and the storm is STILL going on! The wind is still at 49mph, and it’s still a freezing 28˚ degrees. I still can’t go outside, and the power is yet to come. I’m hoping that Power will come tonight, and I’ll get to go outside. I keep looking outside-I can’t even imagine how cold it must be. I just finished making a stuffed penguin out of paper and tape.

3:45pm: Right now, it’s 20˚ degrees, and the wind is 40mph. I am at my neighbors house because my house is way to cold, and here they have a fire place, and it’s much warmer in here. The police came to our house, and said the power won’t be coming back for another 6-8 hours. I’m crossing my fingers the power will be back soon. At the moment, I’m about to have some hot cocoa, and I’m petting Lesser, the neighbors dog.

4:45pm: It is currently 20˚ degrees, the winds are about 39mph, and the snow is SLOWLY starting to stop. The power is not coming back any time soon. Right now, I’m sitting down, writing my story, while petting one of my neighbors dogs.

5:45pm: Right now, it is still 20˚ degrees, and finally the winds have died done, and are at 25mph. I’m crossing my fingers the power will come back on tonight! I heard that it’s so bad, that we even made National News. It’s very creepy to think even people in Hawaii know about the storm…

I just finished dinner, and now I’m sitting near the fireplace.

6:45pm: I am petting Tucker right now, while waiting for the power to come back on. It is still 20˚ degrees, and the winds are at 24mph. 

7:45pm: Finally the power has come back on! The winds are at 26mph, and it’s still 20˚ degrees. Right now, I’m playing on my laptop. 

9:05pm I’m very thankful the power is back! It’s 20˚ degrees and the winds are at 25mph. I am listening to music, and I’m about to go to bed. I can’t wait to play in the snow tomorrow! Color Writing Prompt

My brother and dog barged into my room around 7:53 and told me the power was out.

We got a fire going and we are all snuggled under blankets . My mom got an alarming text that said Nantucket got the most power outages in Massachusetts. We found a really boring crank radio and it is just blabbering on.

9:45 am 29 degrees not that windy 

I just came in from outside,it is miserable and cold. My brother is still out and I think I am going to a take nap with my dog.Our power is still out :(
